Headlock

Overview

The front headlock is a control technique that can have devastating consequences such as follow-up strikes to the face or being dragged into a vehicle.

Technique Summary
  1. Protect Airway:  Keep your chin down so pressure can’t be applied to your airway. Pull down on arm that is choking you in an effort to relieve pressure from your neck.
  2. Defend Face:  Turn face into attacker’s rib cage and bite.
  3. Escape:  Take your hand closest to the attacker’s body and reach up and over the arm they have around your head. Grab their nose or ear and violently rip backwards as you stand up to escape the headlock.
